Learners spend 24 hours per week over 16 weeks at a treatment-providing agency for the first eight weeks of the semester (total 192 hours). They integrate knowledge, skills, and attitudes acquired in the first three semesters through practice of the eight professional practice dimensions and twelvecore functions of substance use disorder counselors while supervised by a licensed clinical supervisor. Learners document clinical hours, develop a learning plan, submit weekly clinical notes on progress toward plan goals, complete writtenassignments, engage in discussion, demonstrate core function practice, professionalism and employability skills, and apply for the SAC license.
