This course introduces the student to a variety of technical topics to the Welding program. Topics will include: welding theory, machine settings, wire and electrode designations and selection, Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) interpretation, maintenance of welding equipment, etc. Discussion will also take place on issues such as work ethics and job/work attitudes, as well as welder certifications, AWS and ASMEcode requirements, and work standards. Hands-on experience in oxy-acetylene and plasma-cutting processes.
